Site Analysis
This site is in
28th Alameda St, Nashville, the construction of I-40 highway cutt off access tot the neighborhood park, historically black universities, residential and vibrant black-owned businesses. The Department of Transportation creaated a ‘foot-bridge to nowhere’ which was merely a band-aid solution to a bigger problem. The site was unsafe, poorly lit and lacks thoughtful design. The area around highway has sound pollution and no measures in place for sustainability controls. One fo the condition is that team should remove the off ramp system from I-40 and reroute traffic as well as develop routes for slower traffic around the site and community.
The site is including the bridge across the highway. Toward to the west, there is a Hadely Park and CI civic place, to the north and south, there is a Tennessee State University and Pearl-cohn High School, and neighborhood community center, and finally to the east, there is a evoving urban neighborhood. Most of the surroundings are made of neighborhood, which is housing.

The Concept
“MECCA”
The main concept of the project was the MECCA, which is a place regarded as a center for a specified group, activitiy, or interest. Not only this but also has several meanings, it is also the religious space to Muslims, which is very scared space to them. So my team choosed the concept MECCA, as the new place to gather around and thinking about the previous history that not only divided space but also the history of black.
