Observatory
Yudal-dong, Mokpo-si, Jeollanam-do, South Korea
Goal: The goal of this project is to design the public Restroom, which opens to everyone.
Challenge: The challenge of the project was studying about personal persona, site analysis, basic structures and materials in architecture.

Site Research
New Possibility
The new possibility of this island, Yudal-dong, the government planed to make the bike rail until 2025. Previously, the way to approach to the island was ship, which was unregular abording time. However, with the bike rail project from government, it is possible to approach with bike and walk.
Tourist Destination
As a island itself, it has sunrise experience, beach, egert habitat, Yuldo landlord-style seaweed village, Nuldo hiking trail, and chestnut habitat. Even this island has wonderful places, it is hard to advertise because it is small island, low population, and low accessibility. With the bridge project, it is easy access with bike and walk, the distance from land is 1.2 miles, which takes maximum 30 minutes.
Adventage
The reason why I set the observatory on the end of the island, there are several reasons
1. Less Construction:
Because of the connection of the road, it is possible to access with cars, bikes, and the other vehicles.
2. Wide View:
Building at the end of the isalnd, it is possible to view sunrise without any distruption, such as sound polution, lands or mountains that cover the sunrise.

Insperation
“Fountain Pen Nib”
The main concept came from the fountain pen nib, which can says it is possible to see in life, but usually forgotten in 21st century. I was focused on the shape of metal and empty space to contain the ink. I reversed the idea store the ink into contain the light, which is comparing with dark and bright element.

Plan and Section
After I choose the concept, I made the water-flow pattern on the path with tempered glass, which shows the island surrounded with ocean. Not only putting the pattern on the surface, but also make lighting on the floor to feel the mood of ocean waves shining with the star lights.
The other thing that different with the other observatory is the in the middle of the circle area, I placed the sharp clock hand on the air to present the shadow as a large type of sun clock, that able to see time at not only from the circle area, but also the observation area.
There is three areas in this observatory; observation area, giant circle area, and relaxing point. The whole area start on the base, divide into the top and bottom area, and on the bottom area, it leads to the circle shape square and relaxing area.
The most thing I consider when I was designing the Pencil was how the light effects on the surface and the way to show to audiences effectivily and making the different moment when they are walking toward to the top and the bottom.
